Together with several industrial partners the scientists at the Fraunhofer-Institut for Applied Optics and Precision Engineering (IOF) in Jena have initiated a new era in free-form optical systems through their development work.

As one of the industrial partners, our main focus was on combining a microstructure with a nanostructure to increase the efficiency of the optics.

For more than 10 years, the Stifterverband of the Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft awards a prize worth 50,000 Euros. This award honors scientifically excellent collaborative projects in applied research that Fraunhofer-Institutes are working on together with industry and/or other research organizations.

At the award ceremony on May 15, 2018 the team of ORAFOL Fresnel Optics GmbH, which worked actively in cooperation with the Fraunhofer-Institut, was a partner of the prize.
